The functional perspective

The CEO of a modern business does not hold a monopoly status on leadership in an organization. On the contrary: the more present leadership is throughout the organization, the better the CEO is doing his / her job. Every key function within the organization ought to have a very distinct leadership capability developed, if the company is to reach its maximum potential.

That being said, the ‘burden’ of leadership always falls on the chief executive, the one who is responsible for the ‘bottom line’.

  • For this reason, our primary focus will be on the chief executive role, be it that it is called so or otherwise (general manager, country manager etc.). (Level 1 on the left hand side menu).
  • The ‘bulk’ of our energy though will be invested in the effort to identify and clarify the leadership content of the key, departmental leadership functions: commercial, finance, operations, HR, supply etc. (Level 2 on the left hand side menu).
  • Last, but not least, we are very interested in exploring how leadership can be stimulated to grow at lower levels within the organization. We are very interested to explore questions like: at what level should we stimulate the growth of leadership mentality in the organization and in what form should such behavior be expected to appear? (Level 3 on the left hand side menu).
